OBOB at ISP

What is OBOB?

Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a statewide voluntary reading motivation program.   OBOB’s mission is to encourage students to broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork.

Students in grades 3-5 form a team of 4 members (with an optional alternate member); these students share the responsibility of reading the 16 selected books. We recommend each student reads at least 4 different titles and memorizes the authors' names and book titles exactly as they appear on the books. Practice battles will begin in January.

OBOB at ISP is a student-led activity. This means that the students, with the help of a team coach, will plan and organize all their practices and preparations for the school competition. The librarian will provide guidance and support as needed.

Visit the official OBOB website for a full list of titles for this year’s competition.

*There is no charge to participate in OBOB at ISP.
